PEEPS

Are these not the cutest little PEEPS ever. I found these over at MADE and you can find the tutorial here. These would be so cute for a Spring party or in a kids room. I think they are adorable and am going to have to make some myself.

Okay I am in LOVE

So I was thinking that I had plenty of quilts which yes I do but when I saw these two quilts I fell head over heels. This first one i saw at Little Birdie Secrets and can't wait to see her finished product.

This one you can find the pattern for at Piper's Quilts I have made one similar to it and both these quilts are great because you can use up all your scraps you have lying around.

Easter Blocks

I love these Easter/spring blocks that I made a few years ago with a friend. When I lived in DC our Micheal's had these blocks (i wish I would have bought more of them for every holiday) I realize I could go to Home Depot and get some wood cut but for some reason that sounds like a big pain with three kids in tow.
If you love ModPodge like most crafters do then you know how easy it is to whip something like this up.

Wipe Clutch

I love these wipe clutches, they should be holding something much better than wipes, but since I have to always have wipes I am so happy they look good. These are SO easy to make I want one for every bag. You can easily make your own pattern by simply tracing your wipe case on some paper and than use that to cut out you fabric. I use a layer of quilters batting underneath the fabric for some extra support. Just super glue everything in place and then cover all your ugly edges with whatever binding you prefer. I just get mine at Joannes or Walmart, but you can find some cute stuff in cute colors at more specialty type store.

Happy Wiping.

My son turned 5 yesterday, so today he brought some cake to pre-school to CELEBRATE!!! I got this cute pan and so far LOVE it (well my boys LOVE it). It is the Nordic Ware Sweet RIde Classic car pan. What little boy would'nt want there own individual car cake for there Birthday and one to share with all your friends (even the girls like them).

I was in a little hurry this morning getting my son to school at nine with cakes in hand, but they still turned out cute.
Next I want to get the cute train mold.

In the Kitchen

I LOVE to bake, and I have weakness for anything sweet and this is why I have to run. So anyway i was asked to help with some cookies/brownies/finger foods for a reception tonight, and my wheels start to turn. What would be good to serve? What will people like? What is something that everyone else won't bring? And what do I make that is DELICIOUS?
When I think delicious cookies I always go back to this classic oatmeal choc. chip cookie recipe that my sister gave me when I got married. I have make in hundreds of times, and it is always so good. I think it is mainly because of yummy choc. chips I use.
When I was thinking what would be something fun and diffrent, but still a brownie just yummier then your normal brownie. These marshmellow brownies are perfect. Brownies, marshmellows, and chocolate frosting. Does it get anybetter. This recipe is in the Heritage cookbook.
Then I wanted to try something new that I have never made before. I first heard of these Oreo balls when I was running one morning and one of my running buddies was saying how they had these at a party over the Holidays and how easy and delicious they are. The recipe is easy,
One Package Oreo regular or mint
One 8oz package cream cheese
Grind up oreo and mix the two ingredients together and then form into balls and refirgerate. Then cover in white chocolate or regular chocolate. I use Milk chocolate in everything I bake.
And these are just for fun because we had some left over chocolate.
I just need to clean up the Kitchen, I hate that part of Baking.

Not your Gradma's wheat cereal

So lately I have been eating this wheat cereal every moring for breakfast and I tell you, I feel so good. What it is, is wheat cernals that I put in the crockpot about 5 cups with 9 cups water. The cernals absorb the water and look like this. To store it I put them in about 4 or 5 smaller ziplock bags and put one in the fridge and freeze the rest. Then you add these tasty berries. And Microwave about 2 minutes.
I then add Honey nut Cheerios (I need something sweet) with some vanilla soymilk. And it actually tastes really good, AND it keeps you regular.

St Patty's Day wreath

I am one of those people that typically skips St. Patty's day all together and goes straight to Easter. For 2 reasons 1. I LOVE my Easter Decorations. and 2. I didn't have and GREEN decor. But my kids are getting older and as it becomes more fun to decorate and celebrate for all the little Holidays. So here we are Decoration #1 (there will only be one this year, and really you only need like two or three things, so if I just make one thing a year that will be it.)
But I do love the way this turned out, and I love the color green. I can change the ribbon and wala is a spring wreath. So easy and SO many possibilities. I got the wreath at the Dollar store, Fleece or Felt at Joannes and it cost about $5.
All you do is cut your fleece in circles I did about 3" circles, then you fold them in half and in half again and glue them one. So EASY.

When I saw these Colors I fell in LOVE right away. They are so fun and bright and Springy (if that is a word). This set is for my Friends daugter's 2nd Birthday. The fabric is Sandi Henderson "Meadowsweet".

This is a set I made for my daughter.
Once again I do love this pattern. Next I want to conquer this dress on the cover. I think I will use these colors.

A work in Progress

So I made my first Hat that actually fit my Son. It is still a work in progress and I am learning, but it is good practice and it turned out pretty cute. I want to make a navy one with either green or cream strips, but I have not been able to find a good navy yet. My Husband thinks I am crazy and that crocheted hats are not for Boys.

Friday, March 5, 2010

I just made these little peasant dresses for my good friends little girls. I use the Portabellopixie "claire" pattern that has four really cute dresses/tops but it is kind of pricey. But I can use it for the next 6 years with my daughter so it's worth it.Since everything looks just a little cuter on, this is my little Lucy in hers.
To bad it looks like this outside today.
Utah weather. Unpredictable.

What's for Dinner

Baja Burritos
Mmmm...does that not just look yummy and that is only what goes inside the tortilla.
I love this dinner because it makes everyone happy from my Husband to my kids and even me. Here is what I do to make this deliciousness happen.
Sorry I just kinda guess my way through it, so here is approximately what I do.
Can of Black beans (drained and Rinsed)
Can of Corn (drained)
Lots of Cilantro
4 oz can green chile's
Rice Approximately 1 cup
Salsa about 1/2 cup
and the final but yet very important, lemon juice. I just kinda just add that to taste. Then you put that mixture along with some cheese inside and I fold over the tortilla and place them in my pan face down. (regular tortillas are not nearly as good as the ones from Costco that you cook your self)
Then I smoother, with any left overs and lots of cheese.
Bake at 350 for about 30 min and wala you have this yummy little morsel the whole fam with love. Try it with the Jack's salsa from Costco.
Happy Cooking

LUCKY

I think this little St. Patrick's Day banner is so cute. And since I have NO decor for the month I thought this would maybe be the perfect little touch, and super easy to make. Here is a tutorial. http://redberrybarn.blogspot.com/2010/02/lucky-burlap-tag-mantle-decor.htmlNow I just need a fireplace!!!
